The prices of the shop you are in
Comparing chains helps before you leave the house. Inside the shop the question is different: what does this cost here.
Turning it on
Pick the shop you are in — the app offers it based on where you are. From then on every item in your list is shown with the price published for that branch.
What you see
Each item carries the price of the branch you chose. Items with no price in that branch's publication simply show no number: that means we have no figure, not that the shop does not stock it.
So you can run down the list before the till and see where the money is going, rather than finding out from the receipt.
Why by branch and not by chain
Chains publish a separate price list for each branch, and two branches of the same chain really can be priced differently. "The price at chain X" is an average, and no branch actually charges it. That is why the app always has you choose a specific shop.
What to do with it
- Before shopping: run down the list and see whether anything expensive can wait.
- While shopping: scan something that was not on the list and see whether it is worth buying here.
- After: history keeps what was bought, so next week starts from a ready list.
Why is there no total for the whole list?
Because not every item has a known price, and a total that adds up only some of them misleads more than it helps. An accurate price per item beats an unreliable sum.
Do the prices include promotions?
They include whatever the branch published, promotions among it. Personal loyalty-card discounts are not published and so are not shown.
